Pet Funerals

"The loss of a pet is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind"

As a pet owner myself, I completely understand the special place a pet has in our hearts, homes and families. This means that when they pass, our feelings of loss and grief are just as valid as when a person dies.

While many people think of the pet funeral as a modern custom, people have memorialized their pets since ancient times. And while holding a pet funeral may not be for everyone, many experts believe that holding some type of ceremony or ritual can help us cope with the loss of a treasured animal friend.

A pet funeral ceremony can be similar to that of a person. It can include all the same elements like tributes, readings, storytelling, candle lighting, reflection, and music. We can hold a ceremony in perhaps their favourite spot in your garden or somewhere you used to walk them that they loved. These ceremonies can involve family members as much or as little as required. This can be especially beneficial for children who may be experiencing their first painful loss of a loved one and seeking ways to come to terms with it.
